Secret Song
©2012 Ken Clinger
new combination of the present
subdue the boundaries in the way
choices and actions giving consent
letting the spirit play
surpassing bygone situations
futures are always waiting near
choosing the path of augmentation
joining the motion now and here
growing awareness of the layout
setting conditions to expand
increase along the line to center
welcome the helping hand
feelings & thoughts in harmony
details and vagueness dovetail plays
invite the inner to the outside
familiar in unseen ways
somewhere in the distant past
beneath a distant sun
messages for future minds
when time has been undone
floating towards a timeless skyline
gravity has gone
thoughts become reality
within this boundless dawn
all that once was obvious
in time it fades away
now returns beyond the memory
mirrored in the day
deep within, yet all around
your secret song remains
its beauty flows thru everything
its melody sustains
flowing out into the world
potential breaking thru
kinetic secret harmony
both beautiful and true
subtle infiltration
beyond the reach of mind
awareness without measure
where love and truth align
somewhere in this endless now
a thriving certainty
emancipation from the bounds
into diversity
uncovered beauty rising from
distracting day to day
rearrange the pieces
a transformable bouquet
new combination moving forward
beyond the boundaries giving way
choices and actions frame the present
joining the spirit play
entering future situations
edge of the present drawing near
merge with the path of augmentation
embrace the motion now and here
somewhere beyond space and time
where all is certainty
limits become meaningless
with spirit soaring free
your secret song comes out to play
this source where it began
its beauty touches everything
no limits in its span
flowing out into the world
its harmony surrounds
everything remains the same
but hums enchanted sound
everyone’s own secret song
sings thru eternity
unique yet blending with the all
angelic harmony

watching on the outer edge,
we take our stands
we’ve got so much to do.
we’ve got so much to say
passing thru the moments
in our day to day
our situations are taylor-made
channeling thru
letting everything have its golden glow
channel to you
seeing yet a little more there is to know
take a little inner when they turn away,
they’ve got their own destinations
and their very own styles
try another method to regain a core
there is an endless count of doorways
to get thru
energy flow, everything moves onward
and it stays the same
energy glow, each at its own level
in its self-made frame
looking at a picture
from a child’s eye view
there is no history nor conception there
to get in the way
forgetting all the methods
they’ve been bringing to you
the revelation and the wonders
that you now can survey
channeling thru
letting everything have its golden glow
channel to you
seeing yet a little more there is to know
hearing inner sound, inner flowing thru you
knowing inner light, inner ways to you
getting over matter
as a proof of what’s real
we find that solidness
has gotten in our way
consistence in the repetition
doesn’t control
it’s just another way
of limiting today
manifesting what we are
it’s in to out while near to far
radiating from within
we’ve got the way we’ve always been
words that give no answer
but they point to you
there is a message there
you’re getting just the same
thoughts are contradicting
to give alternate view
we hold them side by side
with others we contain
channeling thru
letting everything have its golden glow
channel to you
seeing yet a little more there is to know

I wake up at night to a strange light beam.
Above my head, it’s the Elephant Queen.
She says, “Just call me Josephine,
and come with me, on my submarine.”
I say, “This must surely be a dream.”
She says, “Dreams are more real than you think they seem.
You’ve been overdosed by Earth’s regime.
Now come with me, on my submarine.”
Then, in the air, with a blinding gleam,
appears a golden submarine.
It seems to be styled on an elephant theme.
Just the thing for an elephant queen.
The next thing I know, I’m sitting in between
Josephine and a cat named Dean.
They point my attention to a screen,
and there I see the strangest scene.
A whale is dancing with a green sardine,
while a sea cow sings “Begin The Beguine”,
and she adds a line about benzedrine,
and its secret use in the Argentine.
I turn my eyes to Josephine,
who laughs and says, “What you’ve just seen
is not unusual, quite routine
when you’re riding in my submarine.”
I turn my eyes back to the screen:
The sea cow is eating a nectarine,
while reading from a magazine:
the latest news from the Argentine.
She says, “It’s really quite obscene,
how the benzedrine makes the land cows mean.
They talk nonstop, and then they scream
about their lack of haute cuisine.”
Then the whale and the green sardine,
they build a house by a deep ravine,
and stock their freezer with ice cream.
(They know the sea cow’s just turned sixteen.)
Then they come up to the screen,
and say, “Come out of your submarine.
Its time to break the sea cow’s routine,
with her concern for the Argentine.
“And be sure to bring your tambourines,
You know how they can get so unclean,
We have just bought a new machine,
that cleanses them so they’re more than clean.”
Then the whale and the green sardine,
They say, “Oh Sea Cow, leave your magazine,
come visit us by the deep ravine,
we’ve got guests from the submarine.”
“You can sing ‘Begin the Beguine’
while we dance around with our tambourines.
You know that they’ll be more than clean,
after they’ve been in our new machine.”
So we went to the house by the deep ravine.
The whale went to the freezer and brought out the ice cream.
We sang to the sea cow, “Happy Sixteen!”.
Then we had our bowls of ice cream.
And I danced with Josephine.
The very first time I danced with an elephant queen.
She made me sigh, she was so serene,
the way she played her tambourine.
The whale, he danced with the cat named Dean,
while Sea Cow sang “Begin the Beguine”.
We ignored the lines about benzedrine,
and its secret use in the Argentine.
After awhile, the elephant queen,
she says, “I hope you don’t think I’m mean,
but we have to leave in my submarine,
before the daylight intervenes.”
So we thanked the whale and the green sardine,
as the sea cow sings “Begin the Beguine”
one last time, as we leave the scene
and take off in the submarine.
The next thing I know, the alarm clock rings,
and the sun is sending out its beams.
Then I hear a voice, and it’s Josephine’s.
She says, “I’ll come back tonight with my submarine.”
So now I’ll watch for that strange light beam,
and another trip with the Elephant Queen,
and once again see the cat named Dean,
as we ride off in the submarine.

Ceyx and Alcyone

Ceyx, son of morning star
Alcyone, daughter of king of winds
desire to never be apart
a love where ending just begins
a deeper love for all eternity
blessed by the gods above
creating their own destiny
oracles that Ceyx seeks
the seeking leads to tragedy
a shadow on their love
Floating on the ocean
nesting on the waves
Kingfishers brooding peacefully
in calm Halcyon Days
Ceyx and Alcyone
forever intertwined
love transcending outer form
beyond the realm of time
Ceyx seeks the oracle
a destination far across the sea
Alcyone she fears the winds
a sinking ship his destiny
She begs him to remain
else to have her by his side
But Ceyx, he refuses her request
and leaves at morning tide
His fate is sealed, a storm arrives
his drowning words call to his bride
Unaware, Alcyone
she prays to Hera for a safe return
Consumed with pity
Hera summons Morpheus with her concern
In turn now Morpheus
appears as Ceyx in his lover’s dream
wet and naked tells his tragic fate
Alcyone awakes in tears
the sadness of what she has seen
she begs Ceyx to wait
Standing by the ocean
sadly gazing at the waves
Alcyone sees Ceyx’s body
float beneath the haze
She rushes to be with him but
before that she can drown
the gods they give her spreading wings
no longer will she be earthbound
Ceyx comes again to life
he floats above the sea
they’re both transformed to Halcyon birds
kingfishers now to be
together flight above the waves
for all eternity
Floating on the ocean, nesting on the waves
Kingfishers brooding peacefully
in calm Halcyon Days
Ceyx and Alcyone, forever intertwined
love transcending outer form
beyond the realm of time

the point is in the circle
and the circle in the sphere
while the sphere traverses time
increasing of dimensions
in the music that we hear
while the end of the beginning
leaves its traces of the night
in daytime
colors change their frequencies
reflecting in the eye
while the vision changes meaning
the circle spins its radius
horizon to the sky
while a rainbow softly gleams
all along we think
we’re safely dreaming
the sphere increases density
collapsing on itself
while the gravity collapses time
increasing of dimensions
a new level of perception
the beginning and the ending
have no way to contradict
in dreamtime
colors heard as harmony
reflected in the sky
while the song it changes meaning
chords invert their resonance
the low is in the high
with the rainbow in between
all along the key
was in our dreaming

Sound Within The Silence

from the Tao Te Ching translated by Jim Clatfelter

flowing thru existence
then returning to the source
ever at the center
spreading out to distance shores
here begins the universe
the earth and humankind
everything is as it is, it cannot be defined
sound within the silence
light within the darkness
strength within the weakness
abundance in the starkness
eternally unchanging
actively at rest
unlimited potential, infinity expressed
when you look, it isn’t there
listen and you cannot hear
it seems to be beyond your reach
because you are so near
this single source of everything
beyond the conscious mind
existing beyond emptiness
both simple and refined
follow it thru nothingness
approach it where you have no face
from nowhere to infinity
this vacant image has no trace
from never to eternity
an emptiness from near to far
that’s fuller than the physical
this naked wholeness that you are
starlight, glowing, beauty, knowing
balance, listen, inward, glisten
silence, growing, essence, flowing
breathing, splendor, welcome, tender
blessing, center, open, enter
shifting the attention
to origin and source within
you find the place where wholeness
and infinity begin
enter into emptiness
always quiet and at peace
you’re in the place where all begins
the space where all things cease
all things arise and have their day
and then go back to single source
returning to serenity
with no regret and no remorse
when you see the source within
you gladly give assent
you see you’re everlasting
eternally omniscient
